A Community Trading Goods and Services

How does it work?

The scheme is based around a directory where members advertise what they want and what they have to offer. Directory entries include the person's membership number, and monthly name lists with contact details (one in order of membership number, the other in alphabetic order) allow members to get in touch to trade. The HempLETS directory and the name lists are updated every month, and members are free to change their entries at any time.

Some examples of services offered are: decorating, gardening, alternative therapies, pet/house/baby sitting, computer services/tuition, DIY and music lessons. Members also sell goods, many of which are home-made or home-grown.

HempLETS has been going for more than 35 years, and currently have over 70 members. This includes an annually elected committee of 7 members who also meet once a month to plan future activities and discuss and resolve any issues arising in HempLETS.
